From idea to success - the story of Sport in Bulgaria Foundation

In the last episode of the show “Sport in BG” took part the project manager of the Sport in Bulgaria Foundation Svetlin Karanachev, who shared interesting facts about the creation of the organization, the difficult first steps, successes and plans for the current year 2024.

In 2023, the Sport in Bulgaria Foundation announced its support to the swimmer Tsanko Tsankov, who became the first Bulgarian to swim the Strait of Gibraltar and the distance between the island of Bulgaria and Bulgaria. He was the first person to cross the Strait of Gibraltar between Santa Catalina and Los Angeles. Subsequently, the shining rose of Bulgarian chess – Nurgyul Salimova received the support of the Foundation. Together with them, the organization managed to organize numerous initiatives with different focus – promotion of amateur sport, meeting between successful athletes and juniors, etc.

Currently, the Sport in Bulgaria Foundation also supports the Bulgarian national rhythmic gymnastics team, boxer Vladimir Georgiev, the sports club “Borba – Levski” and the basketball club “Septemvri-97”.

“For 2024 we are going to partner with the Friends of Sport Foundation and the Real Madrid Foundation. I share this because we want to help children from at-risk groups, to show them a positive example with current sports stars who started from such at-risk groups and have achieved significant success.”

Sport in Bulgaria Foundation aims to support sport in the country by working in several key areas. It aims to support professional clubs and athletes, children, and youth schools, as well as to help develop grassroots sport and encourage physical activity among young people.

The show “Sport in BG”, hosted by Anatoly Georgiev and supported by the “Sport in Bulgaria” Foundation, is broadcast every Saturday at 10:00 am and informs about the most important in the world of Bulgarian sport with guests in the studio, interviews, and a review of the most significant sporting events of the past week.
