Vyara Velikova, the Executive Director of the Sport in Bulgaria Foundation, and Svetlin Karanachev, the Foundation’s Project Manager, took part in BG Radio’s last show of the year – “Sport in BG”. During the conversation, the guests shared details about the achievements in 2023 and their plans for the upcoming 2024.
“The year 2023 was marked by many successes, but during it our focus was to support professional athletes. Nurgyul Salimova won world titles and Tsanko Tsankov made a historic swim for Bulgarian history. Our plan for 2024 is to help social causes – to help underprivileged children by providing them with the opportunity to develop in sport,” said Vyara Velikova, Executive Director of the Foundation.
Sport in Bulgaria Foundation aims to support sport in the country by working in several key areas. It seeks to support professional clubs and athletes, children and youth schools and grassroots sports organizations and to promote physical activity among young people.
“We are delighted that Bulgarian athletes have achieved notable results over the last year and hope that the positive example they set will inspire the younger generation. Our goal is to encourage more children to practice sport, whether amateur or professional,” said Svetlin Karanachev.
The show “Sport in BG”, hosted by Anatoly Georgiev, is supported by the Sport in Bulgaria Foundation. It is broadcast every Saturday from 10:00 am and gives listeners the opportunity to keep up to date with the most important in the world of Bulgarian sport with guests in the studio, interviews and an overview of the most significant sporting events of the past week.
