Stiliana Nikolova was awarded Athlete of the month of May in the traditional poll of Press Club Bulgaria. Nikolova received 16 votes from the sports editors and thus took the top position in the poll for the past month. The award came shortly after her triumph in the all-around at the 40th edition of the European Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships in Budapest. Valentina Ivanova’s athlete added silver with the hoop and finished fourth with the ribbon and fifth with the shot put. She wins the award for the second time since September 2022.

“Thank you very much for this award and for once again showing your attitude and respect for our sport, and for the whole Bulgarian sport,” Stiliana said.

Until the Olympic Games in Paris Stiliana Nikolova will participate in two more competitions – in the international tournament in Cairo at the end of June and in the World Challenge Cup in July in Cluj-Napoca (Romania). Just before the start of the Olympics the Bulgarian team will make a one-week camp in the French capital.

“During the Olympic Games in Paris I imagine a very full and noisy hall. For me it is a competition like any other. I’m going to do my job,” Nikolova announced, BGNES reported.

The European champion will have four new tricks for the Games in the French capital.
