I am aiming for the gold medal at the Olympic Games in Paris. This was stated in an interview for BGNES by the native grace Stiliiana Nikolova, who is one of the athletes supported by the Sport in Bulgaria Foundation.
The 18-year-old Nikolova, a native of Cairo, started the 2024 Olympic year in impressive fashion, capturing three gold medals at the Grand Prix tournament in Marbella – she triumphed in the all-around as well as in the finals of the clubs and the ribbon on Spanish land.
On her performance in Marbella to start the season, the gymnast told us, “Yes, the first and last competition for now was in Marbella. I’m very happy that I did it because my last one was at the World Championships in Valencia – I needed to feel that thrill and feel the excitement of a competition. Of course, there is still room to go and things to develop, but it was definitely a step forward for the new season,” Nikolova said with optimism for what lies ahead.
She revealed that her compositions are already ready, with changes having to be made from time to time. “The compositions are ready. Of course, some changes have to be made from time to time,” the grace said and set her sights on Paris 2024:
“From the Olympic Games in Paris, I expect myself to show my best and play my routines to the best of my ability. Styliana Nikolova is aiming for the top of the Olympic Games and the gold medal. For any person to make it to the Olympics, they have earned it. All the competitors are very strong, just fight and let the best one win,” Nikolova said of her goals in the French capital and the competition she will face on her way to the top of the biggest international sporting forum.
Nikolova received words of encouragement from the President of the Bulgarian Federation of Rhythmic Gymnastics (BRGF) Iliana Raeva, who was present in the Rakovski Hall during her training. “Yes, Mrs. Raeva works with us a lot and helps us a lot in the process,” said the 18-year-old Bulgarian and continued:
“I really hope that all the athletes will be satisfied with their results and show what they have worked for and the best of themselves at the Olympic Games in Paris,” she expressed hope about the performance of the rest of our athletes at the Olympics, which will be held from July 26 to August 11.
Nikolova, who is supported by the Sport in Bulgaria Foundation, is adamant that Bulgarian sport needs such support and is grateful to receive it. “I think it is very important that Bulgarian sport is supported and supported because we really put all our heart and soul in and out of the gym, and we are very grateful for that,” our gymnast concluded.
