The Sport in Bulgaria Foundation announced its long-term support to the Bulgarian ensemble and individual rhythmic gymnastics athletes. At an official meeting on 10 January 2024, the young Bulgarian talents visited the Foundation’s office where they had the opportunity to meet the Foundation’s team. The meeting was attended by its Executive Director Vyara Velikova and Project Manager Svetlin Karanachev, as well as other members of the team.
Girls from the Rhythmic Gymnastics Ensemble are the first team that the Foundation officially supports. Back in 2022 they won the all-around title and an Olympic quota for Paris 2024 at the World Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships in Arena Sofia. The team consisting of Zenina Trashlieva, Rachel Stoyanov, Sofia Ivanova, Margarita Vassileva, Kamelia Petrova and Radina Tomova will debut at the 2022 Championships in Sofia and will defend the Olympic title that the Golden Girls won at Tokyo 2020.
Support will also be given to Boryana Kalein, Stiliana Nikolova, Eva Brezalieva and other Bulgarian individual athletes in rhythmic gymnastics. Boryana Kalein and Styliana Nikolova will also represent Bulgaria at the Olympic Games in Paris this year, after Kalein captured an individual at the World Championships in Valencia in 2023 and Styliana Nikolova at the World Championships in Sofia in 2022.
