Sport in Bulgaria Foundation and Sports Club Borba – Levski signed a partnership agreement The legend of Bulgarian wrestling Georgi Murkov and the Foundation Vyara Velikova executive director signed the contract in the wrestling hall of the stadium “Georgi Asparuhov”, reports BGNES.
The purpose of the contract is to purchase a bus for the club’s sporting activities. The vehicle is essential for the movement of Levski players. This will allow athletes and their coaches to be more mobile for the competitions they take part in. The Sports Club Borba – Levski believes that the Foundation “Sport in Bulgaria” fulfills a dream of theirs.
“Money is always in short supply in sport, but today we are signing a contract with the Sport in Bulgaria Foundation. In the future we will cooperate and help each other. Nowadays it is very rare to meet people who help free of charge”, said the Olympic, World and European champion in classical wrestling Georgi Murkov.
“I am extremely pleased to be here in this room to congratulate you and announce our partnership. I am sure we will achieve a lot of success together and have a great collaboration. The Foundation aims to support young people like you who are ambitious to achieve success and leave a lasting mark in Bulgarian sport,” said Vyara Velikova.
Over the years the sports club Borba – Levski has won 180 medals from Olympic Games, World and European Championships. One of the club’s main projects is to improve training conditions. The facilities of the club have undergone many changes in the last few years. Two of the halls have been completely renovated, and this year their third hall is under renovation. This will allow a total of 200 children to train daily on 12 completely new mats. The hope of the club is with the better conditions to attract more young talents and soon the training children to reach 400-500, which will make the club the largest active center for the development of the sport of wrestling in Europe. They also have a plan for the development of the men’s team and realization after active competition.
“Buying the one van we need will help us travel to races and make it easier. The more help there is from institutions, from sponsors, we are very grateful, almost every month we have several competitions. Our idea is even to increase the number of children, to become 400-500, because the club has this opportunity as a base”, said the coach of the club Stefan Toshev. “I hope to get more quotas and medals. To prove that we are a strong nation and bring back the glory of Bulgaria in wrestling,” Toshev said about the Olympic Games in Paris this summer.
Sport in Bulgaria Foundation aims to support sport in the country by working in several key areas. It aims to support professional clubs and athletes, children, and youth schools, as well as to help develop grassroots sport and encourage physical activity among young people.
